What exactly is pelvic health physiotherapy?
Is this appointment covered by OHIP?

No, Andrea Picket physiotherapy clinic is a private clinic and therefore is not covered under OHIP. We do accept all forms for payment (debit/ credit), and you will be provided a receipt that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. The appointment will be billed under physiotherapy services. Please check your individual plan. 

Is this only for pregnancy and postpartum recovery?

Not at all. While we frequently support prenatal and postpartum health, we also treat pelvic pain, bladder/bowel issues, and pelvic floor wellness for women at all stages of life, including menopause and post-surgery.

Do I need a doctor’s referral to make an appointment?

No doctor referral is required for a physiotherapy assessment in Ontario. You will be provided a receipt that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Please check your individual plan to determine if they request a doctor referral.

How many sessions will it take to see improvements?

Each person is unique. Many clients begin to feel more confident and symptom relief within a few sessions. After your first assessment, we will provide a realistic timeline based on your specific condition and recovery progress.

What should I expect during my first visit?

The initial session is a private, supportive consultation. We will discuss your full health history and goals, followed by a physical assessment—which may include an internal exam if you are comfortable. We prioritize your consent and comfort at every step.

What is a pessary? Do I need a referral? How many appointments will I need?

A pessary is a removable medical device placed in the vagina to help support pelvic organ prolapses and or bladder leakage. A referral for the pessary medical device itself is required by a physician, if needed download the referral form and provide to your family doctor/ obgyn (this can be faxed to our office once complete). Initial pessary fittings can take 1-3 visits.
